What is a tower crane and where is it used?

Commonly used in the construction of high-rise buildings, Astana tower cranes are beautiful machines that have amazing lifting capabilities. Due to their size, tower cranes are equipped with a working cabin that controls the entire crane. The boom of tower cranes extends horizontally from the mast (part of the tower), which itself rests on a concrete base.

The lifting boom can move up and down, while the fixed boom is equipped with a work cart that moves materials horizontally. The motor (called the slewing device) that controls the rotation of the crane is located at the top of the mast.

Because of their size, tower cranes are built with the building and grow with it; once the building is completed, the process is reversed. Due to their height, ability to lift heavy materials and various functions, tower cranes are an indispensable tool in the construction of high-rise buildings.

Choosing the Right Faucet

Almost all construction jobs require moving heavy materials, so having a crane on hand is critical. To use the crane safely and correctly, you will need an operator, a signalman and a rigger. All crane operators are required to be trained and certified, and most states require the operator to be licensed when using a mobile crane. However, the rigger and signalman must only be “qualified” to perform the job.

Once you have hired a certified crane operator, you need to figure out what kind of crane you need. Unfortunately, simply purchasing the largest crane will not work—for example, an all-terrain crane for a small home renovation may be overkill, and a crane with a portable deck may be more suitable.

Selecting the right crane involves determining the project's terrain, project site size, weather conditions, and material weight. You should also consider the duration of the project, as some cranes, such as a crawler crane, are better used for long-term projects than their counterparts. Once you have all the project specifications, you will be able to determine what type of crane you will need to complete your construction job successfully.
