Concrete shower tray

My name is Alisher, and I do finishing work in Astana. In my practice, there are often situations when clients simply need a concrete tray for their shower. I want to make a shower corner in my bathroom, but I can’t install a shop stall - the area is small, the price is high, or the design simply doesn’t fit into the interior. In such cases, my advice is one: make a concrete shower tray to suit your own dimensions and preferences.

How is a shower tray made?

The most difficult stage in the work can be called the sewerage supply for draining the water. It should be located low enough so that water flows through the pipes in a timely manner and does not stagnate. The drain pipe is installed at an angle of approximately 45%. To ensure water drainage in showers, drains are sometimes used as an alternative to a siphon. They differ only in their more complex design with a separate reservoir where contaminants fall.

Further organization of the shower tray made of concrete is quite simple:

  1. Dismantling and cleaning the workspace from foreign objects.
  2. Marking the boundaries of the shower tray, all outlets and openings for plumbing.
  3. Wooden stops are installed and the base is poured. If necessary, the sides are filled.
  4. Coating with special polymer varnish.

The last step is necessary to protect the surface of the shower tray. Bare concrete is a porous structure that easily absorbs contaminants. The coating prevents dirt from being absorbed, leaving it on the surface. As a result, all you need to do to clean it is to wipe it with a cloth and a gentle detergent.

The combination of a shower tray in a bathroom interior

A concrete shower tray will easily fit into any bathroom interior. Especially if it is complemented with other concrete elements to match. For example, such a gray concrete sink with a cabinet will give the bathroom integrity and completeness. The color and texture accent can be focused on the walls and floor, choosing any shades for them.

An extremely interesting combination is obtained if you use textured wood elements as an accent. The use of concrete products in the design together with wooden decoration gives an atmosphere of naturalness. In addition, this design can suit a variety of styles, including high-tech.

Instead of a shower tray, you can also organize a concrete bath. It will also look natural in the bathroom no matter how decorated it is. A concrete-colored bathtub harmonizes especially well with minimalist design finishes.

Interesting fact: Concrete bathtubs and shower trays have a slightly rougher surface than their counterparts made from other materials. Thanks to this, your feet do not slip while taking a shower.
