The city of Uralsk is the administrative center of Western Kazakhstan, located on the right bank of the Ural River and on the left bank of the Chagan River. The uniqueness of the city is due to the fact that here lies the invisible border of Europe and Asia. From the history of the creation of the city of Uralsk, I would like to note that the settlement arose in 1613, when Cossack settlements arose on the banks of the Ural River. Today Uralsk in Kazakhstan represents the industrial and cultural center of the republic. Some of the attractions of Uralsk include:
- the oldest building in Uralsk, St. Michael the Archangel Cathedral
- ataman's house is another oldest building in Uralsk, served as the residence of a Cossack ataman, the building was built in 1825 according to an Italian design,
- the regional akimat building was built in 1898,
- the house of the merchant Karev, an interesting story is told about this house in Uralsk about a quarrel between two merchants, the house of the Vanyushin merchants was built in the 70s of the 19th century, which bypassed the house of the merchant Karev with its dimensions,
- building of the former fire station Mikhailovskaya
- The house-museum of Emelyan Pugachev is a monument to the history of wooden architecture
- museum Manshuk Mametovoi
- Museum of Nature and Ecology
- Regional Museum of History and Local Lore.
The city has numerous monuments to famous people such as: a monument to A.S. Pushkin, a monument to Aby Kunanbaev, V.I. Chapaev, Manshuk Mametova, and Datov. For lovers of ancient history, in Uralsk Kazakhstan there is the medieval settlement of Zhaiyk. It was discovered by archaeologists in 2001, 12 kilometers from Uralsk. This settlement dates back to the XNUMXth-XNUMXth centuries. During the excavations, several industrial furnaces, an eastern bathhouse with a heating system laid under the floors, and a mausoleum were discovered. The Zhaiyk settlement perfectly conveys the medieval appearance of the city, life, culture, and economy of the population. Not far from the city park at the youth station there is a children's zoo; it is certainly not very big, but children will find it interesting. For those who like to relax on the lake, lake Shalkar or Chelkar is located near Uralsk. Tourism in this area is just developing, so it is not particularly comfortable; yurts can be offered for your convenience. To some extent exotic. But the food here is tasty and inexpensive. It is interesting that Lake Chelkar resembles a sea since the opposite shore is not visible, and indeed the locals call it the steppe sea. The unique nature, clean air, soft clear water and warm sandy beaches attract thousands of tourists to Uralsk Kazakhstan on vacation. They also come here to fish, because Chelkar is rich in fish, it is home to carp, bream, tench, perch, pike, catfish, and gobies.
