Lakes of Karkaralinsk

Karkaralinsk is a picturesque place in the Karaganda region; locals call it the Kazakh “Switzerland” and for good reason!

In the mountains of Karkaralinsk there are many springs, the water in which is striking in its purity, there are simply unique springs, because the water in them is naturally carbonated - this is the Suyk Bulak spring. Even in summer, the water temperature in the spring is no more than 6 degrees; local residents attribute miraculous powers to the spring, that by drinking water from this spring you will receive a charge of vivacity and energy. The nature in Karkaralinsk is truly amazing and beautiful; the Bolshaya and Malaya Karkaralinka rivers flow through the forest. The Karkaraly Mountains are famous for their mountain lakes: Zhartas, Ashikol, Shangel, Bastybay, Koitas, Taskol, Shalkarbay and others.

There are also steppe lakes here. Shaitankol is considered the most famous; it is located high in the mountains and surrounded by forest, as if hidden from human eyes. One of the most beautiful places in the Karkaraly Mountains is Lake Basin. Lake Pool looks like a rectangular bowl, which in its shape is similar to a swimming pool, which is why this place is called that. For a long time, a wind architect worked on the shape of this lake, as a result, an ideal foundation was created in the basalt rock, filled with the purest water that had accumulated from rain and melt water. On the lakes of Karkaralinsk there are rest houses and sanatoriums.

So, at the Zhartas reservoir, 61 km from Karaganda, in the Zhartas sanatorium, crystal clear, intoxicating air awaits you. The territory of the sanatorium is landscaped, there are fountains and there are beautiful cozy gazebos. Beautiful birch trees, silver poplars, slender pines and spruce trees grow in the cozy park. The Zhartas Reservoir has a landscaped beach area and a well-equipped boat station with pleasure boats and catamarans. The lake has excellent fishing, so avid fishermen will be satisfied.

For accommodation, the sanatorium offers cozy residential buildings; 400 vacationers can be accommodated here at the same time. Four meals a day are provided. In the sanatorium you can undergo treatment: laboratory diagnostics, herbal medicine, inhalations, acupuncture, mud therapy, baths with Dead Sea salts, all types of massage and much more.

On the shore of Lake Pasheno in the mountain-forested Karagalinsk, 224 kilometers from Karaganda, there is the Shakhtar holiday house, from which the shortest road leads to the mysterious mountain lake Shaitankol.
