Vitaly Eremeev - the career of the best Kazakhstan NHL goalkeeper

Vitaly Eremeev, born on September 23, 1975 in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan, has already completed his career as an outstanding hockey goalkeeper. He was strongly known for his influential contributions to sports in Kazakhstan. The beginning of a hockey player's career

Eremeev began his hockey career as a member of the local team “Torpedo” and consistently performed at the world championships as a representative of Kazakhstan. He also took an active part in the 1998 Nagano Olympics, where he played seven times and his team managed to finish between 5th and 8th place, taking on strong teams from the USA, Sweden and Belarus.

In 1994, the New York Rangers selected him in the 9th round of the NHL draft, 209th overall. From 1994 to 1999, he anchored the defense as CSKA's main goalkeeper. His prowess was particularly noticeable during the 1999/2000 season when he played for Dynamo Moscow, where he averaged an exceptional 1,27 goals per game, making a significant contribution to his team winning the Russian Championship. In July 2000, Eremeev joined the Rangers, making his NHL debut on December 27, 2000 against the Carolina Hurricanes. Taking the field with his team trailing 3-0, he showed remarkable resilience, stopping 13 of 14 shots in the second period. Despite his efforts, Rangers were defeated 4–3.

Transfer to Barys Astana

He briefly played four games in the NHL, spending the 2000–2001 season in the minor leagues before returning to Russia in 2001/2002 and rejoining Dynamo Moscow. By 2005, he won another Russian championship with Dynamo and was recognized as the best goalkeeper in the league. Before the start of the 2010/2011 season, he moved to Barys Astana.

On April 7, 2015, Eremeev decided to end his professional career. Later, on June 25, he accepted a position on the coaching staff of the MHL team "Snow Leopards".

On June 14, 2016, he began work as goalkeeper coach for Dynamo Moscow, sharing his wealth of experience with the new generation of goalkeepers.
