Bukhtarma Reservoir

The Bukhtarma reservoir was formed in 1960 with the help of the Bukhtarma hydroelectric power station dam on the Irtysh River. The reservoir consists of 2 sections: the river one - along the valley of the Irtysh River, and Lake Zaisan. This is the largest reservoir in Kazakhstan; its length is 425 km, its greatest width is 35 km, and its average depth is 9,6 m. The Bukhtarma reservoir is rightfully considered one of the most beautiful places in Kazakhstan; it is also called the sea because of its impressive size. One can only imagine all the beauty of those places because the Bukhtarma Sea is located in the middle of the Altai Mountains.

The nature of this region is amazingly beautiful, coniferous forests with aspen and rowan groves, reminiscent of a fairy tale place. The majestic mountains that surround the sea, and most importantly the air filled with healing herbs and the freshness of the mountains, all this contributes to a pleasant holiday on Bukhtarma. They come here to relax Both residents of Kazakhstan and guests of the republic, the Bukhtarma reservoir is especially popular among residents of Eastern Kazakhstan. They relax on the Bukhtarma Reservoir mainly in the summer from July to August. During this period, the water warms up to +23 degrees. Back in the Soviet period, holidays on Bukhtarma were popular, but the recreation areas of that period were not particularly comfortable.

In recent years, the coastline of the Bukhtarma Reservoir has noticeably deteriorated; new private bases have appeared here, aimed at the middle class of tourists. There are also houses of the highest category on Bukhtarma, these are mainly private houses, rented out or small bases consisting of 3-4 cottages. Particularly popular are the recreation centers that are located along the coast, from the Blue Bay holiday home to the area of ​​the Novaya Bukhtarma village. Here, holiday homes are simply surrounded by greenery - spruce and pine trees, which is why vacationers prefer this coast. For a family holiday, the Mokhnatka recreation center is considered the most suitable; it is located a short distance from other bases. And the name itself suggests that it is located near Mount Mohnataya. It's quiet and peaceful here.

The recreation center "Ayuda" is located in a unique place where mountains and valleys turn into picturesque forests in which vacationers can pick mushrooms and wild berries. The Yasnaya Polyana sanatorium is located in a bay, surrounded by coniferous forests. In a word, a holiday on Bukhtarma can be not only interesting, but also beneficial for health, since the healing properties of coniferous forests have been known for a long time.
