Charyn National Park of Kazakhstan is located in the valley of the Charyn River on the border of the Uyghur and Enbekshi-Kazakh regions of the Almaty region in the center of the Ili intermountain basin, 193 km from Almaty. The park was organized in 2004, the total area of ​​the park is 93150 hectares. The Sharyn River, the largest tributary of the Ili within Kazakhstan, flows through the park, its length is 393 km. Sharyn is a mountain river. Of particular interest are the burial grounds and burial mounds that exist in the park.

The flora of the park is very diverse. There are seven types of vegetation: steppe, desert, shrub,
forest, tugai, meadow and swamp. In the park in the Sarytogai tract with an area of ​​5,014 thousand hectares. A relict broad-leaved ash forest grows. Common here are willows, rose hips - Ili and Alberta, as well as TVD_Charyn rare Red Book species - Ili barberry and Ili honeysuckle. Among the herbs there are many such as: Ural licorice, asparagus officinalis, multi-stemmed hair plant. Dense bushes are found everywhere.
The fauna of the park is very rich and diverse. There are 36 species of mammals found here, of which the most common are fox, corsac fox, tolai hare, wild boar, mountain goat, weasel, ermine, jerboas and gerbils. Among the red-listed animals that live here are: goitered gazelle, stone marten, bandage, manul and Central Asian river otter. The world of birds is diverse - more than 200 species, including 111 nesting ones. The ash grove is dominated by inhabitants of tree and shrub plantations - pigeons, turtle doves, orioles, southern nightingales, scops owls, and tits. In the canyon they make their nests on cliffs, in niches and cracks in rocks: rock pigeon, rock swallow, chukar, wheatear. Daytime predators also live here: golden eagle, kumai, bearded vulture, snake eagle, vulture, saker falcon, shakhin, imperial eagle and dwarf eagle.

There are 18 species of reptiles in the park. Of the lizards, the most common are the Alai holly eye, the agama, and the gray gecko; among the snakes, the copperhead snake, the patterned and multi-colored snake, and in riverine biotopes, the water snake. Of the fish living in the park, there are 10 species, seven of them are typical natives of the Highland Asian fauna. There are at least 10 species of insects listed in the Red Book in the park.
