Sights of Atyrau

From the history of the city, until 1992 Atyrau was called Guryev in honor of the Russian merchant Gury, who founded a village here in 1615 with his personal money. Today Atyrau is the regional center of the Atyrau region. Atyrau is called a lagoon city, as it is located in the Caspian lowland where the Ural River carries its waters into the Caspian Sea, dividing the city into European and Asian parts. The lands of the Atyrau region are rich in oil and gas fields, and the river is home to a lot of commercial fish.

The climate here is sharply continental, there are frequent dust storms, but snow is rare.

Among the attractions of Atyrau I would like to note the Museum of History and Local Lore, which is one of the oldest museums in the Republic of Kazakhstan. It was formed in 1939. The museum has halls of archaeology, ethnography, regional history of the 58th-000th centuries, modern history, history of culture and literature, halls “The Mystery of the Century”, “Consonance of the Ages”. Today the museum has more than XNUMX exhibits.354

The Shaimardan Sariev Museum is also a landmark of Atyrau; painting exhibitions are held here; the 8 halls of the museum display works by Kazakhstani painters. The museum's collection consists of 1294 exhibits.

The longest pedestrian bridge was built in the city of Atyrau, which has become a landmark of the city. The length of the bridge is 551 meters. It is for this reason that he entered the Guinness Book of Records. It was built in 2001 across the Ural River.

The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Mother of God is an architectural monument of the twentieth century, one of the oldest buildings in the city and, of course, is also a landmark of Atyrau.460

The city has two shopping and entertainment centers. The modern building of the Tamasha shopping center is an unusual architectural solution in the shape of the bow of a ship. Without leaving the building you can make all kinds of purchases, as well as have a delicious meal in a Japanese restaurant or in a family cafe. There is an entertainment complex for children.

Among the attractions of the region, the architectural ensemble Akmechet-Bekket (White Mosque) is of particular importance - a small necropolis of historical, archaeological, architectural and decorative significance.0_8_102=11

The ancient settlement of Sarayshyk is the oldest archaeological site, as well as a landmark of Atyrau. Once upon a time, Sarayshyk was a thriving city with developed trade and applied arts. Today, on the site of the settlement there is a memorial-historical complex which includes a museum.

The city has monuments to outstanding people. New residential complexes and other modern buildings are being actively built here.
