How has Astana developed over the past 15 years?

Hello! Today we will tell you how the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, has developed over the past 15 years, we will take the period from 2000 to 2015. So what was interesting in 2000? This year, the city authorities actively developed the left coast, where they began to build a new administrative center, and this year a new organization was also established - the Eurasian Economic Community. Also, for the further development of the capital, amendments were made to the Ministry of Finance, which stated that 50% of VAT should remain at the disposal of the city authorities. Because of this turn, a debate arose about cutting Astana’s budget, and the question was whether it was worth developing the capital at all?

In 2001, the President created the program “The Rise of Astana - the Rise of Kazakhstan”, which was calculated until 2005, the main goal of which was to develop the city along several directions. Just by 2001, investments in Astana amounted to approximately $1 billion. It is noticeable to the naked eye that the capital is being developed at full speed so that it truly meets a high level and does not lag behind the capitals of other large states. Probably the most interesting news is that since 2001, the Baiterek monument began to grow rapidly. The further development of Astana was incredibly fast and events took place one after another, so we will fast forward several years, namely to 2010, the year in which the World Congress of All World Religions took place.

As you can see, Astana opens its doors to various events and shows readiness for very important affairs on a global scale, thanks to such important events, both for Kazakhstanis and for the whole world, more and more people are learning about the country from Central Asia from a good side. And every year the influx of tourists to Kazakhstan is growing. This stimulates the development of Astana more and more, so every project that is carried out in Astana is in no way inferior in its complexity and beauty to other architectural structures of this wonderful city.

And in 2011, an important event took place for the people of Kazakhstan; they hosted the Asian Games. These were the 7th Asian Games and Kazakhstan approached hosting this event with all seriousness. The airport was modernized, millions of tenge were invested in preparation for the games, new ring roads were built, new passenger buses and taxi cars were purchased. And in the year of the games, the National Bank of Kazakhstan put into circulation a 2 tenge banknote, which was dedicated to Asia, on the reverse side of which a skier was depicted against the backdrop of mountains and the symbols of the Asian games.
