Kazygurt – Sacred Mound

Kazygurt - the Holy Mound is located 40 km from Shymkent and is located in the valley of the Talas Alatau, this is the western ridge of the Tien Shan mountains. Once upon a time, the great Silk Road passed through Kazygurt, this is the shortest route to Uzbekistan, Tashkent, Bukhara, Khiva, and Samarkand. Externally, this mountain range consists of two hills closed by a saddle. Kazygurt is covered in many legends, one of which says that once this mountain was the highest in the Universe and when God decided to destroy that world for its sins, he warned the righteous Noah to build an ark and escape with his family on it. Legend IMG_3650 says that when the whole world disappeared under water, the top of Kazygurt remained unflooded, and Noah’s Ark moored to it. This is just one of the most common legends. Today, on the top of the mountain, modern architects have installed a symbolic Noah’s Ark, which can be seen from afar, and at night it is illuminated with lights. An equilateral cross made of stones was found on the mountain, its size is surprising, since the cross has a diameter of 100 meters; the length of the intersecting bars is 38 meters, the cross is made of stones from 25 to 80 centimeters. And these are not all the attractions that this mound is rich in. They say about this place that it has healing properties and pilgrims or just tourists flock here. At one time, dinosaur bones were found here and are now stored in the State Museum of History of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
