Monuments of Kazakhstan

Among the many monuments of Kazakhstan, there are those that have special significance and a special status, and we would like to briefly introduce you to them. Among them is the underground Beket-ata mosque; for Muslim believers this is a holy place and is revered on par with such places as the burial place of Muhammad and Yassawi. But not only Muslims come here, but also other people of various religions and nationalities, since it is also a historical and cultural monument of antiquity, so it attracts many tourists, sometimes over 1000 people come here per day. Until recently, only the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi and the Tamgaly petroglyphs had a special UNESCO World Heritage status in Kazakhstan. Among the natural monuments one is included - the steppes and lakes of Northern Kazakhstan.

The Tamgaly petroglyphs are located in the Dzhambul district of the Almaty region, 4 kilometers from the village of Karabastau. On the territory of the Tamgaly tract there are various historical monuments - these are burial grounds, religious buildings, petroglyphs dating from the Bronze Age to the beginning of the twentieth century. This is a whole history of the ancient people to modern peoples, which includes the history of the peoples of Kazakhstan spanning three thousand years. It is interesting that the petroglyphs of the Bronze Age are carved on planes in one direction and in the canyon there is a place where all the drawings are visible, merging into a single composition they tell the ancient mythology of the Bronze Age. There are about 2000 petroglyphs here, and in total there are about 5000 drawings in the tract. Tamgaly is the most studied place of rock paintings in Semirechye, of which there are up to 50 in this area.

On the right bank of the Talas River is the Kostobe settlement dating back to the 6th-12th centuries.

On the banks of the rivers Altynsu and Shybandy in the gorge is located the settlement of Ornek dating from the VIII-XII centuries.

The Kayalyk settlement, located 190 kilometers northeast of the city of Taldykorgan, dates back to the XNUMXth - late XNUMXth centuries.

200 kilometers from the village of Bakanas is the Karamergen settlement, dating back to the XNUMXth-XNUMXth centuries, which was a trade center.

In the steppe zone of Zhetysu there is the Aktobe settlement, dating back to the beginning of the 6th-13th centuries, this is one of the largest medieval settlements located in Kazakhstan.

There are historical and architectural monuments in Kazakhstan; buildings such as mausoleums and mazars are of particular interest. They delight with their originality and high construction skills. The Aisha Bibi Mausoleum delights many scientists with its architecture and originality of decoration, and many scientific works are devoted to it. The patterns of this building are made in the traditional styles of ornamental art of ancient Kazakhstan. According to legend, this mausoleum was built for the beautiful daughter of the famous scientist Hakim-ata, who suddenly died on an autumn night.

In central Kazakhstan, in the Ulytau region, there is the mausoleum of Khan Zhoshy; it was a favorite place for the nomadic tribes of Kazakhstan. The Arystan Baba Mausoleum is a historical architectural monument of Kazakhstan, which is located 150 kilometers from the city of Shymkent, dating back to the 1th century.
