The most common errors of AEG washing machines

If your AEG washing machine gives an error before, during or after washing, it is very annoying. The washing machine usually shows an error message or code on the display.

 In this article you can read what they mean and how you can fix them. For example, you can reset your washing machine.

AEG start button doesn't work

If your washing machine is not responding, try the following:

  1. Make sure the plug is inserted deep enough into the outlet.
  2. Unplug the connector and check if the outlet works with another device.
  3. If the other appliance doesn't work either, the problem is in the outlet.
  4. If another appliance is working, restart the washing machine and turn it on again after 15 minutes.
  5. Check if the child lock is turned on and turn it off. You can tell by the lock on the display.
  6. There may be a startup delay enabled. You can read in the instructions how to disable the start delay.

AEG error Eb0 or Ebo

If you see an Eb0 or Ebo error, the washing machine's power supply is low voltage.

  1. Insert the plug into another outlet to check if it works, use an extension cord.
  2. Note: Always plug your washing machine into a grounded outlet.
  3. Reinstall the washing machine. Turn it off and unplug it.
  4. Plug it back in after 30 seconds and turn on the washing machine.
  5. Doesn't this work? You may need a technician to take a look.

AEG error EF0, EFO or EF3

If you see one of these error codes or the display beeps or flashes 15 times, there are various possible reasons:

  • The drain filter is clogged: Clean the filter at the bottom right and collect the dirt in a container. Reinstall the filter.
  • Too much detergent: Run the cycle with the drum empty at 60°C and rinse until no foam remains.
  • Linen stuck: remove the laundry and press the door until it closes and you hear a click.
  • Inlet hose leaks: secure the hose on both sides. Then tilt the washer to drain the water.
  • Unbalanced: distribute the laundry over the drum so that it does not all lie on one side.
  • Running out of water softening salt: Do you have a 9000 series washing machine with SoftWater? Pour the softening salt into the compartment provided for this purpose.

AEG EH0 or EHO failure

Error code EH0 or EHO indicates a problem with the power supply.

  1. Check if the outlet works with another appliance.
  2. Isn't that right? There may be a power failure.
  3. Does it work with another device? Reinstall the washing machine.
  4. Plug the plug back into the outlet after a couple of minutes.
  5. Select a wash cycle and press Start.

Failure AEG E10, C1 or F1

When you see E10, C1 or F1 on the display, the washing machine is not receiving enough water.

  1. Open the water supply completely and then close it.
  2. Just in case, place a towel under the supply hose and unplug the connector from the outlet.
  3. Disconnect the water supply hose from the water supply and clean the filter.
  4. Once you have cleaned it, reconnect the supply hose and reconnect the connector.
  5. Turn the water supply back on and make sure the hose is not kinked.

AEG error E20, E21, E22, E23, E24, E25, E32, C2 or F2

Your AEG washing machine does not drain water. The drum may be full of water. This could be due to a clogged drain filter or another drain problem.

  1. Open the hatch on the front of the washing machine at the bottom right.
  2. Remove the filter, clean it and put it back.
  3. Make sure the drain hose is not kinked.
  4. Do not place the drain hose higher than 1 m above the washing machine.

Error AEG E30 or C3

Your AEG washing machine displays error message E30, C3 or beeps 3 times because water is leaking.

  1. First, check whether the supply hose is connected correctly on both sides.
  2. Check if laundry is stuck in the door and remove it if necessary.
  3. Disconnect the washing machine from the water supply and electrical network and place a towel behind it.
  4. Tilt the device slightly back and hold this position for 40 seconds.
  5. Lower the washing machine to the floor and plug it back in.

AEG error E40, E41, E42, E43, E44 or E45

You will see one of these error codes, or the washer will beep or the light will blink 4 times. This means there is a problem with the door lock.

  1. Check if laundry is stuck between the door.
  2. Close the door until it clicks and restart the wash cycle.
  3. If there is too much laundry in the drum, remove it.
  4. In the worst case scenario, the door lock is broken and needs to be checked by a technician.
