Nature of Almaty

Almaty is the largest city in Kazakhstan and one of the most beautiful in all of Asia. Of course, the main beauty of the southern capital of Kazakhstan lies a little beyond its borders. Outside the city of Almaty there are amazing natural areas and an abundance of beautiful places. And it’s not surprising, because the city is located at the foot of the Zailisky Alatau. Words cannot express all the beauty of Alatau, there are many gorges here, rivers flow through some, such gorges quickly fell in love with both local residents and visiting tourists.

Almaty has many landscapes for absolutely every taste, which will appeal to the most avid traveler. There are the most beautiful Almaty lakes, or as they are called blue lakes. These are crystal clear reservoirs, the water in them is transparent and depending on the time of year they change their color; the most popular are lakes Shalkar, Kaindy, Kolsai and Alakol. There is also Lake Dzhasyl-Kol, located in the Northern Tien Shan at an altitude of 3116 meters above sea level, the path to this lake passes through Left Talgar, where the natural landscapes of Almaty are stunning.

195 kilometers from Almaty is located Charyn canyon. This canyon is an amazing monument made by the nature of Almaty; by the way, the Charyn Canyon is very similar to the Colorado Canyon, which is located in North America. The Charyn River flows at the bottom of Charyn; 62 species of mammals, 103 species of birds and 25 reptiles are found in this natural park. The canyon is especially beautiful when you look at it from above.

In Almaty there is an interesting lake Kaindy, formed as a result of landslide that was in the mountains. The lake is surrounded on all sides by coniferous forest, with which the lake is located at an altitude of 2 kilometers above sea level.

90 kilometers from the city are the Turgen waterfalls located on the slopes of the Trans-Ili Alatau, the waterfalls are about 30 meters high.

There are also many different mountain peaks in the region, such as the Bogdanovich glacier, as well as peaks such as Kumbel, Abay, Uchitel, etc. Unfortunately, not everything can be seen at close range; tourists usually climb the dam, which was built on Medeo.
